Information for those planning to Camp at State Parks

The following may be helpful information to anyone planning on camping in State Parks. For addition information please check with the park directly or contact the state Department of Natural Resources.

A single campsite may be reserved by: A family (parent or parents with their dependent children and not more than two guests); or, a group of not more than six persons, regardless of age. Backpack campsites at the Kettle Moraine State Forests are limited to ten persons.

Reservations may be submitted in person or by mail. Reservation applications will not be accepted if postmarked or hand delivered before January 10, 1998. Due to the volume of reservations received in January, some confirmations may not be mailed until late February.

Applications must be submitted directly to the park/forest at which the reservation is desired. Applicant must be a member of the camping party and must occupy the site being reserved. Applicants requesting adjacent sites should mail all completed reservation forms in one envelope.

Two or more applications for the same dates from the same applicant will not be accepted and will be returned.

Mailed applications must arrive at the park or forest office not less than seven days before the site is to be occupied.

Reservation Cancellations. Campsite reservations may be cancelled by following directions on the confirmation card. The reservation fee is not refundable.

Refund of camping fees are given only under the following conditions: Four or more days notice: If the cancellation request is received four or more days before the reservation start date, all camping fees will be refunded.

Less than four days notice: If the cancellation request is received less than four days before, but prior to 3 p.m. on the scheduled arrival date, the camping fee minus one night's fee will be refunded.

On or after the scheduled arrival date: If the cancellation request is received after 3 p.m. the scheduled arrival date, all remaining camping fees minus one night's fee will be refunded. No refund will be given for any camping fees prior to cancellation notification.

Early Departure. Once the site has been occupied, campers may notify the park office before 3 p.m. daily of early departure plans and receive a refund of the camping fee for that night and all remaining nights.

If the request is received after 3 p.m., a refund of the camping fee for that night will not be allowed but a refund of the camping fee for all remaining nights will be issued.

Refunds will not be made for any part of the two night minimum reservation or a three night minimum holiday weekend reservation once the site is occupied.
